The Over The Hill Gang was founded in the early 1980's by a group of Steamboat Springs seniors who liked to ski together. The group soon began a program of ski guiding for locals and visitors. Over the years the group has grown to about 425 over 50 seniors.

The Yampa River Botanic Park has grown from a flat, horse pasture into a six acre gem of over 50 gardens with ponds, benches and sculptures. No public funds are directed to the Park meaning that the park is free to the public! Each garden is in a unique setting with its own slope, sun exposure, soil chemistry, trees and shrubs which determine what will grow. Every garden has a different focus allowing everyone to find something which will complement their home garden. The Park is open to the public May to October and it serves as a “place of serenity”, as a venue for a summer music festival and theater festival, as a site for weddings and similar events, and a resource for individuals.
Each year, Yampatika’s environmental education programs reach nearly 15,000 youth and adults. Their programs provide people safe, enjoyable, and educational outdoor activities that instill a sense of environmental stewardship. Yampatika's main goal is to develop environmental learning opportunities that serve the children and adults of Northwest Colorado.
